This course opened in 1875 and is the oldest in North America.
The course is flat with tree-lined fairways. The greens are medium-sized and fast. There are sand bunkers surrounding the greens and along the fairways. Lake Ontario lines five holes and could cause trouble if you do not stay on the fairways.
The signature hole is #4, a 140-yard, par 3, which plays from an elevated tee overlooking the lake to a challenging green with bunkers on the sides.

Watch out for # 5, the 515-yard par-5 challenge is the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole at Niagara Golf Club is # 4, the 140 yard par-3.

In the area for vacation and decided to stop in and view North America's Oldest course established in 1875 by John Geale Dickson. This has been ranked by Golf Digest in 2013 as the Top 9 hole course outside of USA and the views surely live up to it. You have six (6) holes that allow you to view Lake Ontario and Fort Mississauga (Involved in War of 1812) which the course is built around. Course plays three (3) tee boxes from 2,930yds / 69.0 / 123 down to 2,339yds / 67.6 / 120 on this Par 36/36 Link's layout. Good separation on most holes by the large hardwood trees that are now providing lots of shade but with branches trimmed to allow mostly full 2nd shots. Tee boxes, fairways, rough are mowed and kept manicured to be pleasing on the eye and very playable. Good scattering of playable white sand traps in fairways and protecting firm soft greens that rolled very true. This is a easy walking course as was seen on this day by 75% of all players on the course today. Hole #3 474yd Par 5 will test you with OB Left and fairway trap Right being narrow tee to front protected green. Hole #5 478 Par 5 has the same thing waiting for you also on your return trip shadowing #3 fairway to the right. Hole #7 301yd Par 4 offers view of the lake tee to green with a 2nd dogleg shot to lakeside green, to pause and take in the view. Paid $34 for a 9 hole walk shooting 39 w/16 putts (2.5hr) and enjoyed playing with locals John & Richard giving me the tips and joys of still playing in their 80's and "Being on the Green-side of Life". Hope I can say this and be in the same frame of mind, at that age.
